My Story
As a retired Armed Forces Captain, the founder has always dreamt of creating unique pieces of art that serve a purpose. Growing up I always had an artistic flair and whilst canvas and paint have been great, their beauty served no function. These traditional media for expression lacked the excitement of the olfactory and tactile senses that leather delivers each and every time. Although art intrinsically does not need to be functional, leather has given me the ability to merge both into a romantic cocktail of sensory pleasures.
How did it start?
I received my first and only leather bag from my grandpa at the age of 7 and the smell of that bag always triggered romance as it stayed by my side for every exam and job I took, every good or bad news I received over the past 30 years. It developed its own life in parallel to mine. I now want to be the creator of such items that truly tell our own story and honour the soul of the animal that crossed the bridge by giving it a dignified new life through aesthetic beauty and purpose.
My journey has taken me through countless hours of refining my skills, experimenting with design elements, and honing our techniques to achieve the highest standards of quality. As a student of life, customers and many great artists before me, I embrace this colourful journey with sincere gratitude.
Unlike commercial brands that focus on mass production hoping you will find a product that will fit your needs at Captain's Cut its the other way round. Listening does not happen much in the fashion industry as time is money but for us its an investment in a life long relationship. Leather is a luxury product in itself and we fully understand the financial investment you will be making so the process starts with listening to your needs, functional requirements and aesthetic preference. Although we have a particular style and philosophy, our experience is built on the art of the bespoke journey .
Handcrafted items, just like the most valuable things in life take time to create. We will however live to our promised deadline as if it was a promise made by a family member or newly found lover. Unless something beyond our control had to happen. In such cases rest assured communication and transparency are guaranteed. We have plenty of experience and fully understand that leather items as a gift to a special one, is a huge chunk of our business. We consider ourselves as partners in the gifting process so packing is done with love and each item is personally signed and quality assured.
